Margaret and her daughter Clara are vacationing in Florence for the summer and are determined to make the most of it. When Clara and Fabrizio are blown together by chance, it seems that love is in the air. But will long-held secrets come to light and ruin the young couple’s chance at happiness?
This stunning musical embodies the feeling of Italy, eschewing the typical pop/rock of musical theatre in favour of a devastatingly beautiful and romantic operatic score. World-renowned, award-winning opera singer Renée Fleming, recently nominated for a Tony Award for her role in Carousel, stars alongside Disney Channel darling Dove Cameron. Both women make their West End debuts under the masterful direction of Tony and multi Olivier award winner Daniel Evans.
The West End cast of The Light in the Piazza also stars Celinde Schoenmaker (Fantine in Les Miserables, Christine Daaé in The Phantom of the Opera) as Franca Naccarelli, Malcolm Singer (Casino Royale, V for Vendetta) as Roy Johnson, Alex Jennings as Signor Naccarelli, Rob Houchen as love interest Fabrizio Naccarelli, Marie McLaughlin (Le Nozze di Figaro, La boheme, Don Giovanni) as Signora Naccarelli, and Liam Tamne as Giuseppe Naccarelli.
With live music by Opera North’s 40-piece onstage orchestra, The Light in the Piazza has proven to be a London theatre experience like no other, having received rave reviews from critics. The 6-time Tony award-winning musical is now showing London for a limited 4 week run at the Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Centre.

Summer holidays are upon us and undoubtedly there’s lots to look forward to this summer, but be sure you don’t miss out on these brilliant shows that are set to end their runs this month. The closing of these shows will see some wonderful actors that we not long welcomed to the West End leave us, such as Hayley Atwell (Henrik Ibsen's Rosmersholm) and Dove Cameron (Daniel Evans' The Light in the Piazza). Thankfully, there is still time to see some spectacular casts and fantastic shows before they close their doors for good.

On the face of it, The Light in the Piazza playing at the Royal Festival Hall in London’s Southbank Centre is a glossy Hollywood-style 1950s musical rom-com. It ticks all the boxes; a great set, gorgeously stylish costumes and shiny happy people. Even the lighting reflects the hyper-real light that exists in the Mediterranean, which makes colours pop and everyone and everything look and feel spectacular.
