The unmistakable style of Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch was forged over decades performing Pina Bausch’s huge catalogue of extraordinary work. Following the choreographer’s death in 2009, the company is now ready to embark on the expansion of this hallowed repertoire.
Norwegian choreographer, director and award-winning playwright Alan Lucien Øyen takes on the challenge to create the second new full-length piece for the company.
Øyen practically grew up backstage at Ibsen’s Den Nationale Scene, experiencing both the cutting-edge and the classical from an early age. As resident choreographer of the Norwegian National Ballet and for his own company winter guests, Øyen’s work seeks to discover authentic expression and reflect the human experience, using dance, theatre and text.
The talented ensemble includes dancers Aida Vainieri, Andrey Berezin, Douglas Letheren, Eddie Martinez, Emma Barrowman, Helena Pikon, Jonathan Fredrickson, Julie Shanahan, Nayoung Kim, Nazareth Panadero, Pau Aran Gimeno, Rainer Behr, Stephanie Troyak, Tsai-Chin Yu, and Çağdaş Ermis.
