Founded in 1980 as the Tricycle Theatre, the venue became Kiln Theatre in 2018 following a major refurbishment. Its transformation included a state-of-the-art auditorium, upgraded front-of-house facilities, and a new name reflecting its ambition to be a melting pot of stories, ideas, and people.
Over the years, the Kiln Theatre has hosted significant productions such as The Great Game: Afghanistan, a groundbreaking series of short plays that toured internationally, and Red Velvet, which transferred to the West End and Broadway. Deeply rooted in Kiln Theatre London’s diverse community, the venue continues to push creative boundaries and reflect the lived experience of its audience.
Kiln Theatre is located in Kilburn, North West London, at 269 Kilburn High Road, London NW6 7JR. It’s a short walk from Kilburn Station on the Jubilee Line and is also easily accessible from Brondesbury Overground and multiple bus routes. The theatre is situated near iconic landmarks such as Kilburn Grange Park and the historic Gaumont State Cinema.
The Kiln Theatre nearest tube station is Kilburn (Jubilee Line), just a 5-minute walk from the venue. Alternatively, Queen’s Park (Bakerloo Line) is around 15 minutes away on foot. Clear signage and a straightforward route along Kilburn High Road make the theatre easy to find for London visitors and locals alike.
The nearest train station to Kiln Theatre is Brondesbury, served by the London Overground. From Brondesbury Station, it’s a 7-minute walk along Kilburn High Road. West Hampstead Thameslink and Overground stations are also nearby, offering alternative routes from across the city.
Numerous bus routes serve the Kilburn area, making it easy to reach the theatre day or night. Day services include the 16, 32, 98, 189, 206, 316, 328, and 332. Night services include the N16 and N98. The nearest bus stop is Kilburn Station Stop R/S, just outside the theatre. From there, simply head south on Kilburn High Road to reach the venue entrance.
Kiln Theatre is committed to accessibility. The building is fully wheelchair accessible, with step-free access to the auditorium, café, and toilets. Infrared hearing systems are available, and the theatre offers captioned, audio-described, and relaxed performances throughout the year.
