London venues and events

One must never forget how much there is to see and do in this impressive city.
If you choose to attend one of the many West End musicals or plays, you won’t be disappointed, London has some amazing theatres showing some of the best performances in theatreland. Venues themselves are generally old historical buildings, which alone can make your evening extra special.
London, of course, is home to the British Royal Family, and the city will come alive with the event of the year – The Royal Wedding. This will take place in the magnificent Westminster Abbey and will be shown live on televisions across the nation. Members of the public will be able to view the parade in the streets of London, or can even sit in glorious Hyde Park to watch the events unfold on the big screens.

Every year London is host to the famous Wimbledon tennis championship. This worldwide event takes place over two weeks in June and is just 15 mins south west of the city. You normally have to pre-book tickets, but you can also queue from early morning to try and obtain tickets for the event on the day. Wimbledon is very easy to get to with underground and national rail services, it is well worth going just to enjoy the strawberries and cream!
Another summer hotspot is Hyde Park. Throughout the year, the park hosts a wide variety of music concerts and festival themed days. Very popular in the summer months of course, and youngsters and families can enjoy an outdoor concert whilst having picnics and soaking up the sun!
2012 is a significant year for London venues and events, as the city hosts the Olympics. A new stadium is being built especially for the occasion and Londoners and tourists will be able to enjoy all of what London has to offer for years to come.
