DRIVING MISS DAISY SMASHES ALL PREVIOUS RECORDS COLLECTING MONEY FOR CHARITY ACTING FOR OTHERS

Cast members, **Vanessa Redgrave**, **James Earl Jones** and **Boyd Gaines** encouraged audiences attending the [**Wyndhams Theatre **](https://www.londontheatredirect.com/venue/27/Wyndhams-Theatre.aspx)for [**Driving Miss Daisy** ](https://www.londontheatredirect.com/play/958/Driving-Miss-Daisy-tickets.aspx)to donate £13, 847.89, the largest collection that charity Acting For Others has received since the collections were initiated in 2003.
Collections ranged from £66.50 to £13,847.89 with 90% of **West End** theatres joining in, but **Driving Miss Daisy** smashed the record, selling off signed posters in return for donations to the charity.
**Vanessa Redgrave** commented, "I am so happy our fundraising was so warmly welcomed by our audiences". The critically acclaimed production of **Driving Miss Daisy** is running at the Wyndham¹s Theatre until 17 December.
**Acting For Others**
In the 1960's Laurence Olivier, together with Noel Coward and Richard Attenborough had the idea of promoting a single annual fund-raising event for all the theatrical charities. The Combined Theatrical Charities was formed. In 2003 **Acting for Others** started their first annual collection campaign.
Once a year performers on stages around the UK are invited to appeal to their audience to assist them in helping their less fortunate colleagues.
