The 3D version of Disney's animated classic **THE LION KING** has remained at the top spot of the US film chart for the second week running, holding back Brad Pitt's new film Moneyball.
According to Disney, the new version of **The Lion King** made $22.1m (£14.3m). Moneyball opened at number 2 with $20.6m (£13.3m), while Dolphin Tale was close behind with $20.3m (£13.1m).
This means that the new version of The Lion King has already made $61.7m (£39.9m) since its release.
Head of Distribution at Disney, Dave Hollis, said the studio will leave the film in cinemas longer than its planned two-week run after the 3D version exceeded all expectations.
